9 Willow Street, Book Recommendations, Family Found Series, Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings, Sale, Us Again

Book sale – 50% off ebooks

eoss v2 fall

My fabulous publisher JMS Books has a sale on all ebooks to mark the end of summer, because when fall comes we need more books. Because books and tea and candles and warm socks are perfect for fall, and go together like…um, I’m not gonna say peanut butter and jelly because I’m not a fan of that combination, but pick something you feel really go together. I’m choosing hamburgers and onions, because I can’t eat burgers without onions! 😀

Anyhooo. That means that my ebooks are 50% off at JMS Books this weekend and through Monday, so if you need to refill your TBR to make sure you have something to read when the days grow colder this is the perfect opportunity.

Why not pre-order my book Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings (release day September 21) if you haven’t already done it, because as you can tell, it’s all about the autumn. It’s also about two men in their late forties starting over.

My collab story with Kris T. Bethke, Falling Into Love also takes place in autumn, so if you’re in the mood for the found family trope, this is just for you.

9 Willow Street also takes place in fall (despite the happy green cover) and features a super cute bunny shifter. Us Again is a short, second chances story with lovely fall colors on the cover.

But all my books are on sale, of course, so check out this link to my author page on the JMS website to see what else I’ve written!

I have some recommendations for books written by other authors you can buy, too, if you already own all of mine 😀

  • Wild Fragile Vines by Vivien Dean (that I reviewed here) is on pre-order. It will be re-released by JMS on September 4 (it was previously published by Amber Quill), and I absolutely adored it. I loved it so much I’m actually considering buying it again (even though it’s the same cover and everything) just to support Ms. Dean.
  • Pumpkin Rolls and Porn Sounds by Kris T. Bethke. It was the first story I read by my dear friend Ms. Bethke and I bought it only because of the fun title, but it turned out to be a great little book and it made me a fan of her writing. It’ll be re-released by JMS (it was previously published by Dreamspinner Press) on September 21 and will share book birthday with Of Autumn Leaves and New Beginnings!! Yay!
  • Chicken Soup by Mel Bossa, which I talked about here. It’s a very short story but full on the feels, and it’s only 50 cents now so clickety-click and buy it. You won’t regret it.
  • Cultivating Love by Addison Albright. I’ve raved so much about Prince Marcelo from the Plans series lately, so I need to give some love to Ed and Joe so they don’t feel neglected. It was my introduction to Addison’s writing, and it’s one of my favorite re-reads!

He hesitates with his hand on the doorknob. “This is just a theory, but I think he’s been punishing himself by not eating. Mom would often…withhold food…when she was in a bad mood.”

His words make my blood boil. What worthless piece of shit would do that to her own kids? “Punishing himself for what?”

“For pushing you away.” As soon as the words leave his mouth, he opens the door and sneaks out, leaving me alone with Sammy.

“That better not be true, you hear?” I whisper to Sammy as the tears keep leaking from my eyes. “You could have just picked up the phone and called me, you know that.”

Happy release day to me! 🍾🥂🎉🎈

I’m so happy that Sammy and Alex is finally released into the wild. I was in the middle of another writing project when they knocked on my brain’s door and refused to leave me alone. So I said Okay, then in that suffering voice we tortured authors get when new characters wants to get ahead in line of the ones we currently write, picked up my pen, and wrote their story.

It is short, with a little bit of angst but a lot of sweet, like always in my books. It’s a M/M contemporary story and it’s only about 10K words. So if you need a short read to take your mind off things but don’t have too much time, this is perfect for you. It’s also perfect if you’re a fan of hurt/comfort and second chances!

Excerpt

“Alexander?” Sammy’s hoarse whisper pulls me out of my walk down memory lane, and I lift my head and look at him.

“I’m here.”

His eyes are little more than narrow slits, and he squeezes them shut and opens them again slowly, as though he’s making sure I’m not a hallucination. He turns his hand and laces his fingers with mine, making my breath stutter to a halt.

“What are you doing here?”

“David called me.”

“David called you.” It’s not a question, more like an unsurprised statement. “Why?”

I sweep my thumb over the back of his hand. “Because you’re in the hospital.” I keep my voice low.

His eyes flutter closed, and a sigh escapes him. “That’s not a reason.”

“Seems legit to me.”

Gently, he releases his grip on me and wiggles his hand free, hiding it under the blanket. “I told you to leave and never come back.”

My hand flies to my chest and I rub over my heart. Fuck. “I remember.”

He twists his upper body away from me and reaches for a glass of water on the bedside table. I hurry around the bed, so I can give it to him.

“Thank you,” he mumbles and gulps down the contents in one go before giving it back.

“More?”

“No.”

I sit in the chair previously occupied by his brother and move it closer, but don’t touch him. I want to. Oh, fuck, do I want to, but my gut tells me I need to give him time. To let him come to me. My gut is usually right when it comes to Sammy; I just hope that today isn’t the first time it will fail me.

“What are you doing here? I yelled at you. Screamed terrible things. Why would you even care about me enough to visit me in the middle of the night?”

My hands twitch and I shove them under my thighs. “I needed to make sure you’re okay.”

He sighs. “That makes sense. It’s who you are. Care Bear with the huge heart.”

The sound of his old nickname for me makes my eyes and throat burn. I try to swallow it down and close my eyes, but the image of him snuggling against my chest, his fingers playing with my fur as he presses kisses to my skin, whispering, “You’re so cuddly, Care Bear,” pops up on my retinas, and I force myself to look at him or I’ll definitely start bawling.

“Now that you know I’m okay, you can go. Thanks for checking up on me.” His chin wobbles, but he doesn’t look away, trying so hard to convey confidence and assurance, and he’s so fucking brave I fear my heart will explode.

“You want me to go?”

He throws his arm over his eyes. “Yes,” he says in a barely audible voice.

“If that’s what you really want, I’ll go.” The words taste like vomit in my mouth, and I want to rush to the sink and rinse it with water. “But you have to look at me and say it. No hiding. Straight-shooting.”

Everything stops. Time. My heartbeat. Rational thought.

This is it. What the fuck do I do if he tells me to go?

Slowly he lowers his arm. His lips quiver and moisture leaks from his eyes, but he does it.

He says the words. “I need you to leave, please.”
