5 things and 1 Facebook Party

Happy Saturday, everyone. This post starts with five things I’ve loved lately, and ends with one huge Facebook Party. First the list:

Rocketman. My husband and I watched this movie a couple weeks ago, and I really loved it. I don’t watch a lot of movies (or shows), so my hubby tries to find things he knows will entice me, and Rocketman was definitely one of those things. If we’re comparing musical films, i.e. Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody, I think I liked BR better, probably because I like Queen a little more than I like Elton John. Because objectively, Rocketman was a better movie. The scene below was fabulous. Have you seen the movie? Did you like it?

(PS: I’ve had Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on repeat in my head since we watched it. Doesn’t matter if I listen to anything else, it’s still stuck. So I’m getting a bit annoyed now, tbh ๐Ÿ˜€ )

My new fountain pen and the new ink. I can almost hear you guys: But Nell, don’t you already have a thousand fountain pens? Hush, you! I’m a writer, and writers need pens! Also: I was in need of some serious retail therapy, so I indulged ๐Ÿ™‚

(I was going to post pictures of my pen and my ink bottle, but it’s a depressingly gray day here today and barely any daylight, so all the pics I’ve taken look like crap. So instead I snagged pics from Lamy’s webpage)

An older Andy Bell (singer of Erasure) with a white beard ๐Ÿ˜ I loved him when he was younger and flamboyantly gay, and I love him in a daddy beard. It doesn’t hurt that their new album is the best they’ve released in 20 years or so.

The re-release of Shifting Silver by Brandon Witt. I already own this book, I bought it back in 2017 when it was available through Dreamspinner Press. But because DSP stopped paying their authors, Brandon Witt pulled his titles and has worked on re-releasing them. And because I love this book so much – I love all books I’ve read by this author but Shifting Silver is my absolute favorite – I decided to buy this re-released version, too. I often do that with books I really love. Or buy one ebook and one print book. Anyway, when it came up for pre-order months ago, I one-clicked it faster than the speed of light. Then I forgot all about it, so when it showed up in my Kindle app a few days ago, I was ecstatic. I re-read it and it was as great as I remembered it. If you haven’t read this beautiful story, you really should. Buy it here.

YouTube write-ins / write with me: Some days, my beloved morning writing crew has real world stuff they need to deal with (jobs! kids! sleep!) and can’t join me in my writing mornings. And since I prefer the company, even if it’s virtual, I’ve watched write-with-me videos on YouTube on these lonely mornings. Mostly on authortuber Kate Cavanaugh’s channel. I found her when one of her videos, I tried writing like Stephen King for a day, showed up in my YouTube feed. I enjoyed it, so I stayed with her. She’s done more “I tried writing like” experiments ever since, and other writing experiments, too, like 24-hour writeathon for example. She posts regularly and puts out high quality content, which are two things that make me happy. So if you want to follow an authortuber, I highly recommend her channel.

Now for the Facebook Party: today, Love Bytes Reviews celebrates that they’ve reached 1000 members in their FB group by putting on a huge party. It starts now, 9 am CET (Central European Time) November 7, and will continue until tomorrow, November 8 9:45 am CET. Each author has 15 minutes to party, so as you probably understand, considering it’s going for over 24 hours, there are a lot of authors participating.

If you want to party with me, my fifteen minutes start at 3:30 pm CET / 9:30 am EST, but I’d definitely recommend you popping by whenever you have the time. You can expect Giveaways Galore! ๐Ÿ™‚

So come join us. Here’s the link to the group.

Pre-order and Facebook party

I have two fun things today:

First, the pre-order link for Late Night Poetry is now up on JMS Books website (Amazon and the others always take a bit longer)

And it’s on sale: all pre-orders are always 20% off so cyber-run over there and pick it up for just $1.59!! Link up above, and also underneath this fancy picture ๐Ÿ™‚

lnp tagline releaseday poem quote

Saying โ€œI love youโ€ to someone who says it first, isnโ€™t supposed to lead to a break-up, but thatโ€™s what happens to Sully and Lou. Sully is out and proud while Lou is in the closet, so when their relationship deepens, Lou runs.

But then Lou starts leaving emotional messages of remorse on Sullyโ€™s answering machine. Sully is torn between his love for Lou and his attempts to get over him. With each message, Louโ€™s regrets deepen. With each message, it becomes more difficult for Sully to forget him. With each message, Sully finds it harder toย wantย to move on.

Can old love poems and heartbreaking honesty help Sully and Lou find their way back to each other?

Second: on Wednesday February 26, I will attend a Facebook Party in Jackie Keswick‘s group Jackie’s Kitchen. Me and a bunch of other authors are celebrating the re-release of her The Power of Zero series, so why not come and hang out with us?

My spot is 7PM GMT (8PM CET / 2PM EST) and I’ll be there for 20 minutes. I can pretty much guarantee giveaways and shenanigans – doesn’t that sound like something you’d like to do on a Wednesday? ๐Ÿ™‚

Guest posts and takeovers

I thought I’d update you on my upcoming activity all across the internet so you know where you can find me other than on this blog.

Today, I have a guest post over at Love Bytes Reviews, where I rant about social media. Check it out and tell me what you think. I will also participate in Love Bytes 6-year anniversary celebration in their Facebook group on April 8, at 00:30EDT, so if you’re a night owl, this is the perfect time to come and keep me company.

I’m also participating in R.J. Scott’s autism awareness blog hop during April. My post will be up here on the my blog on April 27, but until then you can check out her blog and keep up with all the other fabulous authors who also participate.

On April 6, at 5PM EDT, I’ll be over in Drea Roman’s Facebook group, Drea’s Dirty Divas for a 30-minute takeover, to celebrate Drea’s birthday.

On April 20, at 9AM EDT, I’ll be in Noah Steele’s Facebook group Noah’s Dream Hive for takeover to celebrate his upcoming release Fighting For Love.

Finally, I’ll be in Vicki’s Vixens, VL Locey’s Facebook group, for another author takeover to celebrate a new release on April 28, 10:30 EDT.

Phew. Lots of stuff going on in April…as though doing Camp NaNoWriMo wasn’t enough ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope I’ll see you around.

St. Patrick’s Day sale and author takeover, and number 1!

My fabulous publisher JMS Books has a St. Patrick’s Day sale today, all ebooks are 45% off.ย Clickety-click here to be magically transported to my author pageย so you can do some shopping.

As usual, pre-orders and new releases are included in the sale, so take this chance to buy my new super short release All I See – which by the way is number one on the Amazon charts as I write this!! – for only 54 cents. Number one, can you imagine?? ๐Ÿ˜€

all I see number one

Also, don’t forget that I’m going to be at Helena’s Book Havenย over on Facebook today to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! 11PM EDT is my time slot. I can also recommend being there for Addison Albright’s takeover. She always has the best posts in takeovers like this. She’ll be there at 2PM EDT.

(Also: Addison’s books are also 45% off today, of course. If you haven’t read Cultivating Love, now’s the time to buy it!!)

Another author takeover

I’ve signed up for another author takeover, this time it’s in Helena Stone’s Facebook group Helena’s Book Haven, and it’s a St. Patrick’s Day party. I’ll be there at 11PM EDT, and as you can see, I’ll be in good company.

I have to check my closet and see if I have something green to wear to this party. Will I see you there? ๐Ÿ™‚

Facebook author takeovers

I just wanted to let you know that I’m signed up for a couple author takeovers over at Facebook this weekend so you know where you can find me if you want to come and chat.

First, I’m in the QueeRomance Ink Facebook group today, Saturday March 9th, 6PM PST time zone, where I’ll be talking about Snowed In: Nen and Anani and do a couple giveaways. I’ll be there for an hour, and since I live in Malaysia it’ll actually be Sunday morning for me so I’m getting out of bed early just to chat with people. I’d really like to have company! ๐Ÿ™‚

On Sunday, at 10PM EDT, I’ll spend 30 minutes in JJ Harper’s Facebook group Harper’s Honeys to celebrate her birthday, chatting and doing a giveaway or two. JJ clearly knows how to party, because her party has already started and will go on for the entire weekend. I have to admit I’m far too old for a two-day party though, so I better go to bed early today so I can keep up ๐Ÿ˜€

Also: check out this line-up for the party! I’m in pretty great company, don’t you agree?

I hope I’ll see you there!
