Miscellaneous, Nobody Else's

#BiVisibilityDay and Nobody Else’s

Today is Bi Visibility Day, a day to celebrate all of us who identify as bisexuals. Bisexuals are the largest part of the LGBTQ+ community, but despite making up about 50% , we are often erased, both from within and from outside the community. We face lots of prejudice, and people believe a lot of stupid stuff about us. For example: read this article for 10 harmful myths about bisexuals. It happens to all of us: I’ve had people questioning me, asking how can I be such a terrible slut and do that (=be bisexual) to my husband, because being attracted to more than one gender means I’m automatically unfaithful. Obviously. (That was irony if I was unclear.)

So today, we’re celebrating bisexuals everywhere here on my blog!

My fictional characters don’t escape the prejudice either. In Nobody Else’s, Beckett’s best friend Matt, who is also Levi’s older brother, doesn’t understand. Let’s all do our best to not be Matt!

Mars enters Pisces, giving Beckett Cooper the opportunity to assert himself when it comes to a secret infatuation; his best friend’s younger brother Levi. But can Beckett trust what’s in front of him and be brave enough to take what he wants?

With Venus in Virgo, people usually become more reserved, but Levi Byrne always takes the opposite road of what’s expected of him. So, instead of pulling back, he reaches out for a man he’s been interested in for years; Beckett Cooper.

Is it the celestial bodies aligning to bring together two people destined for each other? Or is it a simple tale of boy meets boy, boy likes boy, and boy wants to kiss boy? Do Beckett and Levi even care, or are they too busy getting to know each other … and falling in love?

More free books, and a guest post

A couple weeks back, JMS Books and many of their authors offered a lot of books for free for everyone who needed a little pick-me-up during these difficult times. And since things are even worse these days, they’re doing it again.

Almost 100 books are free this time around, mostly different ones than last time. Including my own Nobody Else’s.

I wrote a guest post for Love Bytes Reviews last week, titled “I’m not here, this isn’t happening.” The title is a line from one of my favorite songs in the whole wide world How to Disappear Completely by my favorite band in the whole wide world Radiohead, and in it I talk a little about how I manage during this pandemic and about the projects I’m currently working on (writer- and non-writer related). Check it out.

“Levi was the quiet sibling. When all the other Byrne-kids spoke louder to make themselves heard in a sea of voices, Levi did the complete opposite. He grew silent.”

“I really enjoy this,” I said instead. “I don’t go out a lot, so unless you’ve got somewhere to be, I’d like to stay a while longer.” I wanted to get him to relax; he seemed so tense around me in a way he never did when Matt was around.

“Yeah?”

“Absolutely. As a matter of fact, I’ll have another cup. Don’t tell her I told you this, but Mom makes awful coffee.”

The right corner of his mouth quirked up in half a smile. “She does?”

“Mhm. Her coffee is weak and pathetic. She believes that if she uses less grounds, the caffeine won’t be as bad.”

Beckett’s eyebrows shot up under his beanie. “No?”

I nodded and made a cross over my heart.

He snorted. “That’s so funny!”

“Tell me about it. I’m sure you understand why I prefer this,” I pointed at my cup, “over muddy water disguised as coffee.”

His gaze stopped wandering, and he finally looked right at me. “To tell you the truth, I’d rather drink the muddy water. I don’t like all that bitterness.”

“I’m not surprised,” I said with a grin.

“What do you mean?”

“That you’re far too sweet for something that dark and bitter.”

My comment made him fidget in his chair. His gaze flitted away from me and he cleared his throat.

Sierra-Hotel-India-Tango. Too much. Reign it in, Levi.

Luckily, the waitress came to my rescue. I accepted another refill and quirked my eyebrow at Beckett.

“I’d like, um, another hot chocolate, please.”

I gave him a wide, happy smile and we drank our beverages in silence and people-watched for a few minutes. Every now and then, he snuck a glance at me and lingered for a second or two before he looked away again. I pretended not to notice, but I was very aware. Every peek left a tingle in its wake, and I wanted him to look at me more.

Box Sets, Find His Way Home, Nobody Else's, Unconditionally

Now on Kindle Unlimited

Surprise! My fabulous publisher JMS Books and I have created a box set from four of my previously published stories and made it available on Kindle Unlimited. After the initial time on KU, we’ll also be releasing it wide, through all the usual channels, but for now it’s available to buy on Amazon, or lend through Kindle Unlimited.

Yay for unexpected release weekend!! Where’s my champagne?? 🙂

finding the one

Four short contemporary gay romances by best-selling M/M author Nell Iris about finding — and holding on to – “The One.” Collected together in an exclusive box set for the first time are the stories:

Unconditionally: After six years together, Luca and Gus are finally getting married. On their wedding day Luca’s mother sees her flamboyant son wearing a veil and explodes. Her hateful words trigger traumatic memories and instead of walking down the aisle, Luca runs away. When Gus realizes Luca is missing he follows him, intent on convincing him to come back. Will he succeed in time for the wedding ceremony?

Find His Way Home: Elliot is miserable living in the big city. He longs for tranquility but is unwilling to move away from his partner Mick. After a dramatic event, he flees and goes back home to a cabin in the mountains. Slowly he regains his calm, but being away from Mick is hard. When a ghost from Elliot’s past shows up, he’s faced with a hard decision: stay on the mountain alone or go back to the city, and Mick?

Nobody Else’s: Beckett Cooper has been secretly infatuated with his BFF’s younger brother Levi for years. Levi Byrne has liked Beckett for as long as he can remember. When an opportunity presents itself for them to get to know each other better, they both grab it and make the best of it. Will the stars align in their favor and lead Beckett and Levi to a happily ever after?

Unexpected Christmas: Thrown together by family drama, strangers Daniel and Axel end up spending Christmas Day getting to know each other. Axel is nothing like Daniel expected. Behind the scary-looking exterior, he hides the heart of a teddy bear and between Disney princesses and erotic poetry, Daniel no longer fears for his life … but for his heart.

Nell's WIP, Nobody Else's, Sale, Snowed In: Nen and Anani, Writing Update

Update

For the entire month of July I have my darling daughter and her boyfriend here for a visit (they live in Sweden) and I’m ecstatic. There won’t be a lot of writing, but I’m trying to do a little at least. I signed up for Camp NanoWriMo with a ridiculously low word goal, and I’m kind of happy I did because otherwise there would probably be no writing at all.

I’m still working on my fantasy story Snowed In: Nen and Anani. It’s slow going, but at least I’m moving forward. Yesterday, I researched tapestry weaving and learned a lot of words I hadn’t heard before. And OMG what an amazingly interesting art form it is. I’ve never realized before (sorry weavers!!)
