Nell Iris' Christmas, Sale

Cover reveal and Black Friday Sale!

I hope you had a good day yesterday, whether you celebrated Thanksgiving, had an ordinary Thursday, or like me: unpacked the stuff that finally came on the boat from Malaysia 😀

Today is Friday, and of course my publisher JMS Books has a Black Friday sale. And as always, it includes pre-orders, like for example for my upcoming Christmas story Four Christmases.

Let’s start by looking at the cover of said story! Isn’t it pretty?

Will a decade-old family feud and long held secrets stand in the way of love?

Auden Whipple is searching for a bit of peace and quiet from his loud family when he stumbles across the neighbor, Porter Eldin. Porter is scorching hot on a freezing Christmas Day, and nothing like Auden expected. A moment shared by the creek, begins a relationship that surprises them both.

As the Christmases pass, Auden and Porter’s relationship deepens. But the obstacle of the unresolved conflict between the Whipples and the Eldins makes Auden worried. Worried to tell his family of his new-found love, worried that the conflict will come between them.

Can two men truly in love help mend fences that have been broken for too long? Can the holiday spirit help Auden and Porter find their happily ever after?

But now for the sale part of this blog post. I’ve already done a lot of shopping today on Black Friday (because I just moved across the world and a huge sale like this is great when you have a long list of things you need to buy!) so I don’t know if my budget allows any books. Maybe if I’m good and do some unpacking, I can reward myself with book shopping? Whaddaya say?

Today and tomorrow, all ebooks at JMS Books are 60% off and all paperbacks are $8!! Which means all my ebooks are available at 60% off!!

black friday sale preorders

So why not pre-order the re-release of Red Popcorn Strings and Gumball Rings for $1.20, or Four Christmases for $1.60, or 2019 Top Ten Gay Romance (which includes my story Awakenings & French Songs and nine other stories) for only $2.40?

And if you like paperbacks, Finding The One is only eight bucks!!

Here’s a link to my author page at JMS Books so you can browse all my books. Happy shopping!

One month until Christmas…

Today is one month until Christmas and the last couple years, I’ve made these elaborate holiday themed blog posts during December, but this year with the move, I haven’t had the time to plan and execute something like that. So instead, I thought I’d recommend six (and a bonus) of my favorite holiday themed reads from last year’s advent calendar here on the blog (when I recommended a holiday story I’d read and loved every day until the 25th).

Hopefully they’ll tie you over while you wait for your favorite author’s holiday story to drop this year 🙂

2018 xmas favorites

Talk Turkey | It’s Not Yule, It’s Me | Watermelon Kisses | Goldilocks and the Bear | Revelry | The Working Elf Blues

The above links are to the blog post from last year where I wrote about these six fabulous holiday stories. On every post, I shared the blurb, the cover, and buy links, as well as a short reason to why I picked it, my favorite quote(s), and a song I paired – in all unseriousness – with the book.

What they all have in common is that I absolutely adored them and definitely plan to re-read them this year.

Tell me about your favorite holiday story in the comments! I’m always on the lookout for holiday stories! 🙂

I read this book last December, but didn’t include it in the advent calendar because I loved it so much it needed a separate post here on the blog where I could gush freely about it.

But really. If you haven’t read The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish you really really should. It’s a fabulous, fabulous holiday story that deserves all the love. Read my gushy review here (buy link is in the review).

39347033Last month, Alex Barrow’s whole life imploded—partner, home, job, all gone in forty-eight hours. But sometimes when everything falls apart, better things appear almost like magic. Now, he’s back in his Michigan hometown, finally opening the bakery he’s always dreamed of. But the pleasure of opening day is nothing compared to the lonely and beautiful man who bewitches Alex before he even orders.

Corbin Wale is a weirdo. At least, that’s what he’s heard his whole life. He knows he’s often in a fantasy world, but the things he feels are very real. And so is the reason why he can never, ever be with Alex Barrow. Even if Alex is everything he’s always fantasized about. Even if maybe, just maybe, Corbin is Alex’s fantasy too.

When Corbin begins working at the bakery, he and Alex can’t deny their connection any longer. As the holiday season works its magic, Alex yearns for the man who seems out of reach. But to be with Alex, Corbin will have to challenge every truth he’s ever known. If his holiday risk pays off, two men from different worlds will get the love they’ve always longed for.

Book recommendation

Just a short book recommendation today. Never in a million years would I have thought of shipping Susan Price and Mary Crawford (from Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park) but I couldn’t not buy this book when I stumbled upon it. And I’m glad I did; I really enjoyed this short little story.

So if you have a few minutes, want a F/F historical short that is a Jane Austen fanfic, may I recommend Her Particular Friend by JL Merrow?

48496929._SY475_When Susan Price leaves Mansfield Park to accompany her aunt, Lady Bertram, to take the waters in Bath, she little expects to meet an old “friend” of the family. Initially scandalised, Susan finds herself drawn to the former Mary Crawford, now a widow, Mrs Lynd.

Mary has lost none of her playful spirit in the ten years since her family’s acquaintance with the Bertrams ended amid elopement and scandal. Her interest, first piqued by Susan’s resemblance to her older sister Fanny, only grows on discovering Susan’s very different character.

But Lady Bertram will surely never countenance Susan’s intimacy with the woman whose brother caused her daughter’s disgrace — and Mary’s true identity cannot be kept a secret forever.

Cover reveal

As I told you a while back, I requested the rights back for my Dreamspinner Press advent calendar, Red Popcorn Strings and Gumball Rings. But now the time has come (or soon at least) to re-release it.

My fabulous publisher JMS Books kindly agreed to re-release Casey and Ellis’s story and it will be released on December 7. And I have the new cover. Wanna see?

redpopcornstrings JMS

Isn’t it cute?? 😍😍 I love it so much; it’s so much better suited to the story than the generic DSP cover was.

I’ll post the pre-order links as soon as they’re available.

And if you’re new to my writing and my blog and wonder Red Popcorn whatnow? here’s the blurb 😀

Young couple Ellis and Casey’s Christmas is set to be a lean one. Struggling financially, they’re only able to manage the most basic needs for their holiday celebration. They can’t afford luxuries like a turkey. Or decorations. Or presents. Between the recent death of Casey’s beloved momma, and Ellis’ estrangement from his family, all they have is each other.

When Ellis finds the saddest looking Christmas tree south of the Mason-Dixon line thrown outside his workplace and brings it home to Casey, things look up. Because what more do you need to have a Merry Christmas than enthusiasm, ingenuity, and someone to love?

About Nell

My chaotic life

Hi everyone. I’m in Sweden now…or actually I’ve been here since November 9th, but my life has been a giant whirlwind of chaos since I arrived. Who ever said it was easy moving across the world? No one? Okay, sounds about right.

I thought you might like to see a few pictures, if for no other reason than to feel sorry for me and my current situation? 🙂

We brought a few bags with us on the plane, heh. Not more than about 250 pounds worth of stuff. Uuuuugh, that was no fun at all.

When we landed, we stayed at a hotel first because we didn’t get the keys to our new place until the 12th. And after that we stayed for a few more days because we had lots of admin stuff to do (like visiting the Swedish version of IRS to write ourselves back into the country and a gazillion other equally unfun things) and couldn’t focus on moving in.

When we got the keys, we didn’t have any stuff (except for the 250 pounds of stuff we brought on the plane, but we couldn’t sleep on any of that) so we went to Ikea to buy what we decided not to bring on the boat and instead buy new here.

…and we bought all the things. And this wasn’t even half of it. We had to go back the next day, and then they didn’t have what we needed so we ended up ordering some stuff online that will be delivered on Saturday. A new desk for me, among other things. Can’t wait!

After all the unpacking, it looked like Ikea had vomited on our living room floor.

photo_2019-11-19_13-25-53And this is the current state of affairs while we wait for the container of stuff to arrive from Malaysia (on or around December 7). How do you like our very fancy dining table?? 😂 But at least we have a new (very nice!) bed to sleep in, enough things to cook with, and this table is better than having dinner on the floor, don’t you agree?

But OMG I miss my things. My desk things, my books, my vinyl records. My fancy office chair. My teas! So if someone could please tell the boat transporting our things to hurry, I’d be forever grateful! 😀
