It’s only three more days until the release of Awakenings & French Songs. I thought we’d take a look at a couple of pre-release reviews if you need help to decide if this is something for you. 🙂
“Family and waiting was the theme here and there were such tender moments, I couldn’t help but fall for this story.” said Kristin at Gay Book Reviews and gave it 4 stars.
“This was a short and sweet read. Iggy and Ronan were such nice guys and I loved them as a couple. Although this was short, the story was well-written, felt complete and the characters were well-developed.” said Tracy from Bayou Book Junkie (on Goodreads) and gave it 4 stars.
Well deserved great reviews! ❤️

Yes, I’m really happy about them. 4-star reviews for a story with less than 12K words, is like 5 stars in “real book world” if you know what I mean 😀

Yes. I get the impression people set a different bar for short stories to have to hurdle to get the same points they’d give a novel.

I know what you mean, Addison; I think short stories often get judged too harshly. I try not to do this and actually relax my standards when I review a short story or short novella. Having said all of that, relaxed standards were not needed for Awakenings & French Songs! I just finished reading it and I loved it. Nell knows how to do a short story right. ❤

I saw your review on Goodreads. This line “In my opinion she does a great job with short stories, which is not an easy task.” made me tear up. You have no idea how happy you just made me ❤️😘
