Advent calendar: day 5

teabooks

Behind door number 5 of the advent calendar, we find Ballerina Dad by Amy Aislin. It was one of my favorite holiday reads last year (review here). I contemplated going with her new Christmas story published this year…but I’m sorry: big hockey player in a tutu and with a beard full of glitter trumps almost anything else, so that didn’t happen. 😍😍

Attending his daughter’s holiday dance recital should be easy for pro hockey player Patrick Barnes. Showing up in a tutu, however, wasn’t exactly part of the plan. And yet the holidays get even more interesting when he bumps into Lee, the man he let get away years ago.

Ballet instructor Lee can’t believe who just walked into his studio. He also can’t believe how quickly the flare of attraction between he and Patrick resurfaces, despite the years that have gone by since they last spoke.

Once upon a time, they let opportunities get away. Is it possible they’ll now have the chance to pursue the spark that has come back to life after just one conversation?

Holidays are a time for giving, and neither Patrick nor Lee are about to take this particular gift for granted.

Today’s quote from the book:

It was more than that: a belief, a knowing, that if they were ever to become more than friends, they’d have something incredibly special.

Today’s song to go with the story

Purple Snowflakes by Marvin Gaye because Pat wears a purple (and pink) tutu. (What? It’s a valid reason! 😁 )

  1. I love the title of this story. Short yet attention grabbing. I find myself looking forward to your music selections as much as to your take on the holiday stories. You come up with some good lesser-known songs! πŸ’ž

    1. You have no idea how happy it makes me that you say that. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to come up with the perfect song for each book, and I’ve even rejected books because I couldn’t find a song that fit well enough for my liking πŸ™‚ Am I taking this too far? Maybe, but I’m having fun.

And I have more visitors than usual, so you’re not the only one reading my posts. Though you ARE the only one commenting πŸ™‚ ❀️
