Rainbow Snippets

Weekends means Rainbow Snippets-time here on the blog, since I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. According to their description, “it’s a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction—a WIP or a finished work of even 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).”

Don’t forget to like my page on Facebook or follow me on Twitter. I’d also be happy to become friends on Facebook if you’d like 😁

Today’s snippet is a continuation from last week. Here’s the link if you need to be reminded.

And I know, I know. It’s more than 6 sentences. Sue me 😉

The visitor knocked again, a little harder this time. I groaned, put the book down, and contemplated pretending I wasn’t home. Who was visiting at—I glanced at my watch—nine thirty a Friday night anyway? I’d carefully trained everyone I knew to always call or text before coming over.

Sighing, I ran my fingers through my hair and tucked the unruly strands behind my ears. If the lights hadn’t been on, I would have ducked down in front of the couch with my hands over my ears and ignored whoever was banging on my door. Instead, I got up, marched through my house, and yanked the door open a little more forcefully than strictly necessary.

And just like that, my world came to a halt.

My WIP is coming along nicely, but I have to kick it up a notch because I’ve got a deadline approaching. I have a tentative title for it, Promise me we’ll be okay, but I haven’t decided 100% yet. What do you think? 🙂

  1. Lives can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. It’s nice when that ends up becoming a good thing (even if the person in question doesn’t recognize it as such right away). I love how you’ve portrayed his attitude leading up to this moment…how he doesn’t have the slightest inkling what’s about to happen! ♡

    1. Thank you ❤️

I’m working hard to finish it next week, but it’ll probably be by the end of the week. How long to you need for a book somewhere between 20-30K?? What’s my deadline? 🙂

        1. Need to send it to JMS Nov 30. And I guess I need a couple days to edit after your comments. So I need it morning the 29th from you? (That would be your 28th evening?) So when do you think you need it? I’ll adapt to your schedule the best I can 🙂
