In June, I’m partaking in a bookish Instagram challenge here on the blog. Pictures are required (because Instagram), so I’ll post a pic with some explanation or other every day. The challenge is courtesy of Bookriot. And if you’ve got Instagram and want to see what other people come up with, just check #riotgrams.
23 – Book You’ve Owned Longest
I’m actually not sure about this one. Most likely it’s a children’s book, maybe one by Astrid Lindgren. Or someone I got from my mother. I know she gave me an old edition of Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige (The Wonderful Adventures of Nils) by Selma Lagerlöf, but I don’t remember if I’ve still got it. And I can’t really check, because most of my books are in storage in Sweden.
But I know one book I’ve owned and loved for the longest time, since it was first released. The Eyes of the Dragon, by Stephen King. As you probably understand, the book on the picture is NOT the one I’ve owned for ages, that one is in Sweden. I considered bringing it when I moved, but it’s in terrible shape with loose pages and dog ears, so I left it in storage. Instead I bought a new edition here in Malaysia.
I love this book and I’ve read it a million times. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a fairytale and he originally wrote it for his kids.
It’s about the fight between good and evil, and I was terrified of the powerful magician Flagg when I was a kid. He’s so evil he made my skin crawl.
Have you read it? 🙂
